Papa blankets have been used for centuries by shepherds as shelter and protection during the harsh winters of Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain chain in Portugal.
The papa blanket is made by using fleece from churra, an ancient Iberian long wool sheep breed. Its distinctive final look is obtained through a fulling and teaseling process, which makes the traditional Portuguese papa blanket extraordinarily thick, warm and comfortable.
Manufactured in one of the oldest wool factories in Portugal, situated in the heart of Serra da Estrela, it is exclusive to the A Needle in the Haystack collection by Stró.
