The Bateira straw hat is perhaps the most reconizable model of the traditional Portuguese straw headgear. Its name is taken from a typical wooden fishing boat of Ria de Aveiro, a vast lagoon just on the other side of Costa Nova.
The Bateira model is also gender-neutral and comes with a removable snap hat band, which makes it possible for you to choose your own favourite (or favourites) according to the intended look. The process of making our straw hats is completely artisanal, which faithfully testifies to the skillful and ancient Portuguese art of working with straw.
Straw is one of the most ecological natural materials that exists which, given our sustainable and ecological principles, means that is also one of the most noble.

How to Care
Hat: do not wash Fabric hat bands: machine wash delicate cycle max. 40 degrees (please use a laundry wash bag). Vegetable tanned leather hat band: do not wash. Straw darkens naturally with sunlight.
